Samsung starts One UI 9 rollout on Galaxy S26 series
Samsung Electronics has begun rolling out its One UI 9 software update to the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, extending the release beyond the foldables on which it debuted.
The update first appeared on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8. The company announced the wider rollout on Monday, saying it brings more Galaxy AI features and a smoother experience across device types.
Among the additions is My FanCam, which tracks a chosen person in a recorded video and keeps them centred as the scene moves. Samsung says it lets users produce social-ready clips with less manual editing, such as a child’s performance or a moment at a sporting event.
Now Brief, the daily summary feature, gets Generative and Editable Cards. Users can choose which health, weather and video information appears in their brief.
A new Warranty and Care tool in the Settings menu lets users check warranty coverage across connected Samsung devices and run self-diagnostics. They can also view repair estimates, manage Samsung Care+ and book a service appointment.
Now Nudge will offer context-aware suggestions in more situations. When users are making plans over text, for instance, it can pull up reservation details or save a shared location without leaving the conversation.
Creative Studio will suggest image-generation ideas tied to upcoming events, such as a themed greeting when a friend’s birthday is near.
The Interpreter translation tool gets a Thread View for referring back to earlier exchanges. Conversation Mode translates faster, and playback is quicker on compatible Galaxy Buds.
Document Scan can now digitise curved book pages and corner-folded papers with less manual adjustment. Voice Recorder summaries will use headings and tables to make key points easier to scan.
Samsung has also added new security and privacy features. Security Brief in Now Brief will flag malware, apps from unknown sources and unnecessary permissions.
Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to spot risks such as apps trying to access permissions in the background. Scam Detection, which flags potential scam calls, expands to more countries and languages.
